Without doubt the UK's most popular record deck, dating back to the 1970s, the PL12D, its successor - the PL112D and sister PL15D, represented excellent value for money. Pioneer's simple design and mass production made good reproduction fidelity achievable on a modest budget.

The PL12D was typically sold with a Shure M75ED or Ortofon FF15 or Audio-Technica cartridge, although any standard 1/2" bolt-on cartridge will work on the PL12D. Compatible replacement styli are available for most cartridges.
