The
AKG D19C was used in the music industry as
a standard workhorse dynamic microphone in the 60s. It seems to have become
famous due to appearing as an overhead in a photo with Ringo Starr during a
recording session at Abbey Road studios
The frequency response is reasonably wide although not particularly flat but the bass is surprisingly directional so that is probably why it was used for pick up of drums, percussion, etc in studio where separation was desirable.
